An update on 'Jones'

We were fortunate to recently receive an update from the mother of Nicholas, whose Sunshine dream (a new puppy) was fulfilled last year. Born with heart defects, Nicholas has undergone numerous surgeries and treatments throughout his young life. He is small for his age (just over 40 pounds) and his prognosis remains uncertain.

"Over the years I have had the privilege of receiving help from many organizations for necessary equipment, medications and therapies for my son Dawson, which I am so grateful for, however there are things in a special child's life that are also necessary, things that are meant to put a smile on a child's face and to simply make then happy. The Sunshine Foundation's goal is just that, they create smiles and happiness.
I recall those long days of spring in 2003, at B.C. Children's Hospital in Vancouver, and if you've ever spent a spring in Vancouver, you are hard pressed to see any sunshine! I spent countless hours pacing the hallways going back and forth between ICU and the courtyard outside, waiting for a sign of hope; a glimmer of sunshine. Once in a while the sky would break up and a small stream of sunlight would peek through the clouds and I'd feel better; I'd feel hopeful.

I cannot think of a better name for your foundation than 'Sunshine'.

You have given my Nicholas some sunshine. Even on rainy days, when the future feels cloudy or dark, we will have 'Jones'. He fills our lives with bright sunny days and remind us that we have been blessed with an abundance of kindness.

I thank you all for giving Nicholas this wonderful little ray of sunshine and for making Nicholas so very happy."
