Position: Development Coordinator (Full Time)
Location: London, Ontario

The Development Coordinator is a vital member of the development team providing support in the implementation of fundraising and stewardship strategies and in building sustainable relationships for the achievement of revenue goals. The Development Coordinator will be supervised by a Campaign Manager, will work independently at times, as well as in collaboration with other Development Coordinators. This role is located in London, Ontario. Travel will be primarily Ontario-based, but may periodically include travel out of the province.

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Supporting a Campaign Manager in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of Sunshine’s supporter base with focus to retention.
  • Conducting research and building prospect pipelines to support acquisition strategies.
  • Working with suppliers/vendors in support of fundraising and stewardship activities.
  • Preparing prospect briefs and funding proposals, and attending supporter meetings as assigned.
  • Coordinating the production of campaign and event materials such as proposals, briefs and brochures.
  • Tracking campaign expenses and preparing appropriate forms and reports.
  • Maintaining database records and preparing gift remittance, new constituent forms and preparing analytic reports.
  • Coordinating community-based fundraising events and representing Sunshine as required.
  • Maintaining Sunshine event collateral inventory.
  • Assisting with the coordination of internal and external meetings.
  • Training, supervising and engaging volunteers in fundraising and stewardship activities.
  • Administrative support and special projects as required

Successful candidates will have/be:

  • University degree in a related field with work experience, CFRE designation an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience; preferably in a non-profit environment in development, communications or public relations.
  • Strong computer literacy, including full competency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint); Adobe suite of products (InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator, Acrobat) and asset.
  • Experience with fund development processes: prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.
  • Competency with prospect research and preparation of prospect briefs.
  • Knowledge of concepts and processes with database or constituent relationship management software (i.e. Raiser’s Edge).
  • Administrative and technical competency with peer to peer software (Team Raiser, Front Stream).
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, and effective listening skills.
  • Natural ability to build rapport and trust in a demanding and dynamic environment.
  • A positive, diplomatic interpersonal style, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high quality results on time; flexibility to manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with proven ability to cope with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity and honesty, with respect for confidentiality.
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic with an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for fundraising.
  • Team-oriented with experience working with volunteers.
  • Knowledge of and experience with issues related to disabilities an asset.
  • Ability to travel and work occasional weekend and evenings; a valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle required for this position.
