The Sunshine Foundation of Canada is proud to congratulate Matthew Baker on being the 2014 Recipient of the Bill White Memorial Sunshine Foundation Student Volunteer Award.
Matthew is a 22-year-old, full-time student enrolled in the fourth year of an Honours Double Major program at King's University College, studying accounting and economics.
Matthew began to volunteer for The Sunshine Foundation of Canada when a friend asked if he was interested in helping out with a Sunshine event. As a child, he felt fortunate to have his dreams come true – travelling overseas for soccer tournaments and watching the best players in the world. Matthew has continued volunteering with Sunshine, because he believes that every child should have their most heartfelt dream fulfilled. He is excited to have the opportunity to help in any way to benefit Sunshine Kids and would love to participate in a Sunshine DreamLift one day.
Born and raised in London’s Wortley Village, Matthew is an avid soccer player and golfer. He is currently applying to Master's programs focusing on data analytics and considering pursuing a professional accounting designation.
