Making a ‘Splash’ in Communities Across Canada

What a fun summer it’s been! Thirteen teams (many of them co-workers), and 81 participants from coast to coast took part in fundraising and showing off their splash challenges all August long. Of note was a cat catching bubbles, a dog dousing his owner with water, and the RogersTOCrew3 team paddling and taking a dip in Lake Ontario. All participants had their own creative way of completing the challenges for a chance to win a prize and build awareness for Sunshine Dream programs.

A special shout out to this year’s winners for top team fundraiser Tim Brown Team and top fundraiser overall! You’ve made a difference in the lives of Sunshine kids!

Congratulations to the winners of our three draws:
Early bird Steve Sauve, Fundraising Draw: Richard H, Shauna D., Brian H., Kelly S., Judy P., and Social media Draw: Sophia N.

As the second year of The Great Canadian Splash For Kids event, Sunshine has been grateful for the support of the event’s title sponsor, Staycation Pools Inc., a local London, Ontario pool company making a splash in the community.

“During another pandemic summer, it’s wonderful to be involved as the presenting sponsor for Sunshine’s Splash For Kids,” shares Dean Hammond, Owner and Operator at Staycation Pools Inc. “These past two years have been tough on many Canadians and being part of a fun ‘staycation’ event that also helps the mental health and bright futures of kids is such a pleasure.”

“Splash for Kids has been a fun and accessible way for people to get involved with Sunshine this past summer,” says Nancy Sutherland, President and CEO of The Sunshine Foundation of Canada. “It’s been a terrific event for corporate teams, families, and friends of all ages and abilities to have some fun while raising vital funds to change kids’ lives. We are proud of all of the participants who helped us surpass our goal of raising $20,000 to help Sunshine boost the futures of kids and youth living with severe physical disabilities.”

The Great Canadian Splash For Kids is also made possible by the support of VersaBank, Bridgeview & Sarnia Bay Marinas, Siskinds LLP, Windley Ely, Gowling WLG, BlueStone Properties Inc., Datto Inc., and Hollandia Pools & Spas.
